Craftwork Blogger Template

Craftwork is originally designed by EZwpthemes and Blogger FAQs has converted it to Blogger Platform.

I've converted this template right from scratch once again because of huge demand and love from you guys. It's very easy to setup, stylish comments and navigation links have been included plus this template works fine in IE 6.

Hi! It's a very nice template! I would like to use it in my blog but the text about Jane Smith doesn't disappear! do you know how I can do that? Thanks!!!

zEEROCKz said...

Hi Pika Raisin, so so sorry for replying so late. if you can't find the gadget which contains search and links then please download this template from here:

http://btemplates.com/2009/04/08/craftwork/

When you'll download the template from here, you'll see that there's another gadget included in the compressed archive. After installing the template, go to "Page Elements" tab and right under your "Header" widget, create a new "HTML/Text" widget. Then copy the data from the gadget in downloaded file to the newly created widget.

If you still can't understand, feel free to ask for help.

zEEROCKz said...

Hi Anonymous, well you can change the "About Us" text by going to "Edit HTML" tab. Then find "Hi, I'm Jane Smith and I write...". Simply change it.

Hi! great blog. thank you so much for converting these themes into blogger. i was wondering if there was any way you could convert Magazeen from smashing magazing into blogger format?

Anonymous said...

nice template..i use it for my blog..tq

DKBTLT said...

I know Love got the links to work, but I still have not...is there a quick explanation?

zEEROCKz said...

hey DKBTLT, just download this template from here.

http://btemplates.com/2009/04/08/craftwork/

You'll see that there is also another widget in this download. Install the template in normal way, after that create a new widget below your header widget in the "Page Elements" tab. The widget should be a "Text/HTML" widget. Put the contents of the widget which you downloaded into the newly created widget.

I would like to know how to make the code for the menu/search etc line up with the boxes. When I come to do a search the cursor is actually above the box.
My other question is with regards to the search facility. I have done preliminary searches to find that it searches google not my blog. How can I rectify this?
Other than those minor problems I am very impressed with this blog template.
Thanks in advance.

can I just upload the XML file on the Edit HTML part under the Layout tab instead of copy/paste it just like what you said??

Julirose Supremo said...

Hey tnx for converting this theme I really love it :D

btw, there's also another theme from EZwpthemes that I like can you please convert it to so that I could use it on blogger. Thanks! heres the link to that layout...

http://www.ezwpthemes.com/templates/children-and-toys.html

PS:
When you convert it can you please convert it in a way that I could also change the 4 photos at the top to be some of my personal photos. If ever its possible.:D
Tnx again!

zEEROCKz said...

Hi Julirose Supremo, yes you need to upload the xml file in "Edit HTML" section and also follow the instructions to setup the menu code.

I've seen the "Children and Toys" template, it's really very cute and I'll try my best to convert it to Blogger ASAP.

zEEROCKz said...

Hi Sara, the "About Me" button can't be removed because it is in the main background image, see this picture please:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/Sdjrsyz76vI/AAAAAAAACjQ/IwqvJ2XX09Y/s1600/top-frame.jpg

If you want to increase the overall width then find this code in your template HTML:

#container {
width: 675px;
padding: 0 155px 0 169px;
}

and increase the width and see preview. Don't save till you're satisfied.

Pei Pei said...

Hi, how do I make the About,Faq links on top of the page to navigate to other pages? I got the links up but I don't know how to make it work as a hyperlink.
Can you please help me?

zEEROCKz said...

Hi Pei Pei just make sure that you've downloaded the template from the download link given above in this page and not from any where else on the web. TO set up the links, you need to follow the instructions on setup of navigation menu which are also given in detail on this page.

Τζίνα said...

Hi, how can I put date at each post?

zEEROCKz said...

Hi Τζίνα, Date with each post is already there, you need to change it's format. Go to "Settings" then "Formatting" scroll down and change the "Timestamp Format"

Τζίνα said...

It was so simple! Thanks a lot!

Τζίνα said...

I've tried to change comments image to number of comments without success!
I have to paste this (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/SjZFpPJI2zI/AAAAAAAAC1Y/DwPvWe3BV7c/s1600-h/Remove+comments+picture+in+craftwork+template.PNG) somewhere in the HTML code?

zEEROCKz said...

No, you don't need to put the image anywhere in the code. This image is just for assistance... actually you need to find this code by going to "Layout" | "Edit HTML" and check "Expand Widget Templates" and then searching for:

<a class='read-comments' expr:href='data:post.addCommentUrl'><img alt='Read Comments' src='http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/Sdjrj2gVL6I/AAAAAAAACiQ/TlRUV2TULfE/s1600/read-comments.jpg'/></a>

Once, you've found the above code, replace it with the following code:

<span class='read-comments'><data:post.numComments/></span>

before saving see preview and if there are number of comments rather than a picture, save your template.

Τζίνα said...

I did'nt replace it but I put the number code next to the other, so if you can.. come to see! :)

zEEROCKz said...

Τζίνα that looks fantastic....

thanks to you!

Plant a mustard seed in said...

hi, fantastic design.. i have set it up and for the navigation links, i guess i will need to set up these pages as posts and then linked the specific posts in the code. i believe blogger don't allow to set up pages so i have to set them up as posts.
anyway, i will set these up later but currently i faced an issue here. i noticed that the alignment for the nav bar is a few inched higher than the image of the nav bar, this also applies to the search location image, thus is is a bit "ugly" when people click on the nav bar and also will mislead people when they type in the "search words" in the search location. can you help to solve this? i tried to figure it out but to no avail.. please help.. my blog is here >> http://plantamustardseed.blogspot.com/

thanks... :)

Plant a mustard seed in said...

did you received my ques? i can't see them here???
or it is waiting to be approved before it is shown.. sorry.. jst need to confirm my ques is received.. thks..

Bilal said...

Hi Plant a mustard seed in, actually all comments appear after my approval that's why you didn't saw your comment immediately.

You're right about the pages, you need to create posts and then you can link them to the menu.

Your problem regarding searchform and navbar alignments can be solved. Go to Layout | Edit HTML and find the following code in your template...

/* Navigation */
#navigation {
margin: -5px 0 0 180px;*margin: -5px 0 0 95px;
float: left;
}
#searchform {
float: left;
margin: -10px 0 0 100px;
*margin: -10px 0 0 100px;
}

This code is responsible for alignment, you need to change some values in it. In Navigation

/* Navigation */
#navigation {
margin: -5px 0 0 180px;*margin: -5px 0 0 95px;
float: left;
}

try changing margin: -5px 0 0 180px; to margin: 0 0 0 180px; and save your template and see if the navbar has moved down a bit. If you're still not satisfied then you can change margin: 0 0 0 180px; to margin: 5px 0 0 180px; it will cause navbar to move down futher.

For searchform you need to change this code:

#searchform {
float: left;
margin: -10px 0 0 100px;
*margin: -10px 0 0 100px;
}

change margin: -10px 0 0 100px; to margin: -5px 0 0 100px; save and see if the searchform is down to desired position, if not then change margin: -5px 0 0 100px; to margin: 0 0 0 100px; save and then again see if searchform is down.

if you're not comfortable with all this stuff then you can also send me your template, I'll do it myself. to do this go to Layout | Edit HTML and click on "Download Full Template" link to save your template on your hard drive. then you can mail me:

eliosa_ said...

Hello! thank you very much for reply. What happens is that, knew that he could not translate the page (thanks for that) but I fail to understand about reemplzar "#" with directions menu. What directions? or the code of the RSS button.
Forgive the inconvenience, but there are people like me who struggle to understand a bit about codes. Thanks for everything and meet my doubts.

Bilal said...

when you've opened the text file I've included with the template and you've pasted it to the widget above your header in Page Elements tab. this is the code in the widget:

<div id="rss"><a href="#"><img alt="RSS" width="50" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="50"/></a></div>

<!-- navigation start -->

<div id="navigation">
<a href="#"><img alt="Home" width="82" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a>
<a href="#"><img alt="About" width="82" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a>
<a href="#"><img alt="Contact" width="120" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a>
<a href="#"><img alt="FAQ" width="70" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a>
</div>
<!-- navigation end -->

you need to make changes in the blog by modifying the links. for example first link is for your blog RSS feed like this:

<div id="rss"><a href="#"><img alt="RSS" width="50" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="50"/></a></div>

change # in <a href="#"> to the address of your blog feed like I've created a feed for my blog which is http://feeds2.feedburner.com/bloggerfaqs so I'll change the RSS code by replacing # with http://feeds2.feedburner.com/bloggerfaqs and result is:

<div id="rss"><a href="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/bloggerfaqs"><img alt="RSS" width="50" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="50"/></a></div>

Similarly, I'll change the navigation menu like (like home, about etc) by replacing # in their code by my own addresses. for example code for the "home" link is like this:

<a href="#"><img alt="Home" width="82" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a>

As you know, my blog address is http://bloggerfaqs.blogspot.com/ so i'll replace # with http://bloggerfaqs.blogspot.com/ and result will be like this:

<a href="http://bloggerfaqs.blogspot.com/"><img alt="Home" width="82" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a>

Similarly, I'll create a new post with title "About" which contain my blog and personal introduction and I'll replace the # in <a href="#"><img alt="About" width="82" src="http://www.ezwpthemes.com/examples/wp-content/themes/craftwork/images/spacer.gif" height="36"/></a> with the URL of that post. I can also make posts for FAQ and Contact links.

Is there a way to make the search bar search my blog, and not google? Also, I'd like to be able to make the sidebar so the elements (text/headers) are more centered like the preview image at the top of this page. Is there a way I can do that? Thank you so much. :)

Happy Banshee said...

Cheers Bilal,

Sorry to trouble you. Like many others I am in desperate need of your help:) I have problems with how the top links "Home About Contact FAQ and search" line up. The RSS feed link and graphic lines up ok. But the others are way off to the left of the actual graphics you would click on.

Example: When I placed the link to blogger edit under the "home" graphic, it ends up being about an inch over to the left, same problem with the search box as well. You end up having to type to the left of the search box by about an inch or so.

Also, the little graphics on the right sidebar start out fine, but as you add other sections, the text begins to fall below the graphic and cannot be seen.

my blog is here:
http://happybanshee.blogspot.com/

I understand a very tiny bit of html from years ago, but no CSS or skins stuff. I do hope you can help as I want to use this template very much, it's perfect for what I need and I just love it:)

cheers,
Happy Banshee

you can click on my name and you will directed to my blog.
thanks thanks
and i love your template, it's super pretty (:

Hi there, this template is GORGIOUS! I want to apply it to my blogspot, but at the office I cant download .rar files.

Is het possible that you email me this template as a wordplate?

Cheers!

Bilal said...

@ Janet, this template is in .rar format and don't worry simply download any file archiver software like 7-Zip which is free.

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z465.exe

In this software you can extract and use the .rar or .zip files.

D33D33ZRANTS! said...

hey
i fixed the links
but i still don't know how to change the about us picture
thanks

Bilal said...

@ D33D33ZRANTS!, the "About Us" is not a link title, it is actually part of a big background image and you can change it only by editing the background image.

The code for the image is located in Edit HTML tab. The code you can find there is:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/Sdjrsyz76vI/AAAAAAAACjQ/IwqvJ2XX09Y/s1600/top-frame.jpg

which is the location of the image. So, if you're good in editing images then you can change "About Us" to something else.

Or you can ask for my help in editing this image!

D33D33ZRANTS! said...

is that code in the content section, header section or somewhere else? sorry for not finding it :/

and thanks for the offer!
:)

Bilal said...

@ D33D33ZRANTS!, I'll do it for you, just tell me what you want to be instead of "About Us"???

Once I'll edit the image, I'll tell you how to apply it on your blog.

D33D33ZRANTS! said...

omg really? thanks so much
i want about deedee
instead of about us
thanks thanks thanks

@ D33D33ZRANTS!, please just gimme a couple of days, I'll do that for you.

D33D33ZRANTS! said...

lol
okay

D33D33ZRANTS! said...

Bilal said...

@ D33D33ZRANTS!, I've done a little editing in the background image and it looks like this:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/SsiXq1Ds5RI/AAAAAAAADxs/t50iIGSmi4s/s1600/top-frame.jpg

-------
Setup
-------

To insert this image in your template, go to "Edit HTML" section and find:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/Sdjrsyz76vI/AAAAAAAACjQ/IwqvJ2XX09Y/s1600/top-frame.jpg

Replace the above code with the following code:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/SsiXq1Ds5RI/AAAAAAAADxs/t50iIGSmi4s/s1600/top-frame.jpg

@ Stitches In Time, thanks for liking and using this template. Actually, when I converted this template, I wasn't very good in HTML/CSS but now I'm thinking of totally coding this template from scratch. Till then, please read the full instructions on this page and also disable the word verification process.

Please stay tuned to grab the new version as soon as it arrives!

@ Janet, yes you can remove the toolbar which contains different social bookmarking buttons, just go to Edit HTML then check Expand Widget Templates and find this code:

<div class='bookmark-line'><ul>

just delete this code and you won't see these icons anymore!

Hi - our blog is www.etheledith.blogspot.com We LOVE this template, but we have a few questions. Normally with blogger we have the ability to follow at the top of the page, but it's missing. Is there a way to get it back? Also, we would like to add 2 more buttons to showcase our For Sale Items and our Services. Is this possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Stitches In Time said...

Please, I need help with posting comments. My readers have notified me that the comment section is broken and I don't know how to fix it. People used to be able to leave comments and now they can't as no comment box appears. What do I need to do to fix it? I really don't want to change templates again!!

Bilal said...

@ Peter, please download and install the error-free version which I've just released, it also contains a setup file.

@ Ethel Edith, if you want to recover the navbar then go to Edit HTML section, find and delete this code:

.Navbar {visibility:hidden;display: none;}

If you want to add more buttons then you'll need to edit the background pic, if you don't know how to do that then tell me which buttons you want to add, I'll try to help you.

Bilal said...

@ Stitches In Time, sorry for replying late, I know how frustrating it is to be in a situation like this.

First of all, fix your corrupt template by following the instructions at this page:

http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/2007/06/template-corruption-components-missing.html

After that you'll lose some styling but don't worry. Download the latest error-free version of this template which I've just (31-10-2009) uploaded right here. Then simply install the template and follow the instructions in the setup file included with the template.

Ethel Edith said...

Hi Bilal - thank you so much for the help! The navigation bar is incredibly helpful!!

On the buttons - I do not know how to do that. If you don't mind, I would love a button called For Sale and a button called Services.

Thank you again for all your help. I'm new to this and all the tips have helped me greatly so far!!

Bilal said...

@ Ethel Edith, to add two new buttons you've to remove a couple of existing buttons (like Home, About, Contacts or FAQs). So, tell me which of the existing buttons you want to remove so that I can add your desired buttons (Sale & Services)!

Hi Bilal - I would get rid of the Home button & the Contact button and replace them with the For Sale and Services. Thanks so much - you are going above & beyond for us! We truly appreciate it!!

and replace it with the address below:

Hi Bilal! Firstly I want to say thank you very much for creating such a great template! I really really love it and I consider to use it for my blog. But, I would get rid of the FAQ button. Then I would change the Contact and About button with More From Me and Authoress button. How to do that? Thank you :)

how to use this on my blog..i'm so lost now.help me

Bilal said...

@ Tamsin, currently you're not using the Craftwork template on your blog. Anyways, please download the latest version of this blog right from here and follow the instructions, I hope you'll get good results.

Bilal said...

@ Anonymous, just gimme the names of buttons which you want to use on your blog. I'll edit the background image and add your buttons instead of the default ones.

Bilal said...

@ Juca, I think you want to change the format of the date which appears right below the post title. Just go to "Settings" | "Formatting" and change the "Timestamp Format".

Bilal said...

@ Maknae Eijah, I think you're directly uploading the .rar file. After downloading the template from here, you must extract it using any compression software like 7-Zip (Google it) and then upload the .XML file to Blogger.

Bilal said...

@ [thah], at which point you're facing difficulty???

Maknae Eijah said...

still can't lorr..
can u give me the code..
i thinks it's much easy for me to change my blog..

Hi again,

I'm sorry to ask so many questions but I'm also having a problem changing the home, about, etc.
When I create the post, I used the date 1999 like suggested in the template setup but the post appears on my blog there is no way to hide it. I tried everything. Am I missing a step???
Thank you.

@ Christine Carol, I've edited the main background image and changed "About Us" to "About Me". To replace the current images with the new image, go to "Edit HTML" tab and find this code:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/Sdjrsyz76vI/AAAAAAAACjQ/IwqvJ2XX09Y/s1600/top-frame.jpg

and replace it with the following one:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/SycwgIy-AOI/AAAAAAAAEFo/m-h7W4uZ5LE/s1600/top-frame2.jpg

------------------------------------------------

To change the size of the text which comes under "About Me", just go to "Edit HTML" and find this code:

#sidebar-top {
width: 180px;
height: 200px;
}

Just add a new CSS property (font-size) in it, now the code should look like this:

#sidebar-top {
width: 180px;
height: 200px;
font-size:15px;
}

As you can see, I've just added a very simple CSS property to control my font size. You can change the value "15px" to some other value.

------------------------------------------------

To change the sidebar title color from white to black, simply find this code in "Edit HTML" tab:

h2 {
font-size: 1.6em;
font-weight: bold;
font-family: Arial;
color: #fff;
padding: 15px 0;
text-align: center;
background: url(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/SdjrkNXWBYI/AAAAAAAACio/MP2Dh1GqvCs/s1600/sidebar-h.jpg) no-repeat;
}

and then replace it with the following code:

h2 {
font-size: 1.6em;
font-weight: bold;
font-family: Arial;
color: #000;
padding: 15px 0;
text-align: center;
background: url(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wa6zL1GRiOs/SdjrkNXWBYI/AAAAAAAACio/MP2Dh1GqvCs/s1600/sidebar-h.jpg) no-repeat;
}

If you've any more difficulties, feel free to ask for help, thanks.

@ Christine Carol, there's no way to hide a post on a blog. By giving an old date, we just try to make that post very old so that users won't see it on the main page. However, the post will be there on the blog and if someone clicks the "Older Posts" button again and again, of course he/she will also see the oldest of posts.

Bilal said...

@ Terms & Conditions, you're not using this template!

Christine Carol said...

Thank you for help. I was able to change everything and it looks great. I love the template. Now I understand about the post. I thought there was a trick I was missing.

Have a Happy Holidays!!!
